I"m at camp all wek y'all have fun!
You know that self-concept you have? think of yourself, think really hard, conjure up a picture of yourself in your mind. imagine yourself doing something, describe yourself in 5 words, tell me your favorite thing to do, are you tough? girly? sissy? everything you have just thought of is your self-concept. the way that you think you are, whether that is true or not, you will try to live up to it, excuse yourself by it, and even stop yourself from doing something just because you don't "do stuff like that."
Ever had a severe reality check? something that contradicted your self-concept, vital to your existance as you know it, so much that you had to sit down and re-boot? Many people do this when they watch themselves. Someone who may be very talented in all areas of music except singing (but thinks they could pursure singing as a career) would be crushed with disbelief when they heard themself sing. Someone who has been told that they are very beautiful would be dissapointed and confused when they see a picture of themself. Etc.
Same thing happens with people's weight. They just don't realize it, because, unless the first place you gain weight is you neck, when they look in the mirror, they only see from the shoulders up, and they see what they have seen every morning since they were old enough to walk. You have to see yourself before you can really see at all. Just like we have no clue what we stick in our bodies until we take note.
For me, this is about changing my self-concept. To what I want. Not what anyone else thinks I should look like. It's not about changing your body to fit what you think you are, it's about motivating yourself to change your body and mind in cooperation. Find some middle ground. Pick something that you can live with that you won't regret. But you are healthy not by scale or measurement, although they are not evil, and quite useful tools if used appropriately. This is about being in touch with who you really are.
This is supposed to be the deep thought of Saturday.... I might come back and do one later in the day, but right now i got nothing.
Guest speaker #1 07/16/2010
I'm starting a new way of doing things here, and I have different blog posts scheduled on different subjects. Every other Friday we will have a guest speaker. Here is our first one, used by permission, by Katelyn:
When I was chasing the chickens around their yard, trying to get them to go into their coop, so I could lock them in (a little early) for the night. Well, in order to get them out from under the coop, (it isn’t directly on the ground, about a foot and a half higher) you need to get a rake and shoo them out. I had the rake propped against the side of the pen; I bent over to pick up my blind hen (who, by the way, wasn’t happy with me for picking her up!) and BAM! the rake fell on MY back. Now, the rake in this picture represents the world, scaring us, teasing us, taunting, teasing us, and making us believe we aren’t good enough. The blind hen represents us, we can’t see what the "world" is doing to us. I represent God, (PLEASE, don’t take this personally, I mess up just as much as everybody else!) holding us, and protecting us. Right after the rake fell on me, I realized my hen could have been seriously hurt, had I not been protecting her. That’s what God does in our life. He protects us, even when we struggle and fight Him.
When you walk with Christ, you accept that you’ve done wrong. You don’t just walk with Him; you let Him be the Lord of your life. You submit to Him and do what He says, even when it’s hard. God says turn the other cheek. That doesn’t mean you should always let yourself be bullied. It means when the world temps, we turn to Him and let Him handle it. There is a song, golly, I can’t remember who sings it, but it’s called, Cry Out to Jesus. It is an AMAZING song!
When you are ready to cast your wrong and your hurt on Him who can carry it all, and DID!, turn to Him and pray something like this, "God, I realize I have done wrong and I want you to come in and help me. Help me live the way You want me to live. You are the Lord of my life, and I’m ready for you to take control. Amen"
Believing the world and the lies it tells is WRONG. But, it is REALLY HARD to ignore them. In fact, it’s impossible to do it without Him. Like in Narnia, when Lucy, Susan, and couldn’t get Edmund back without Aslan to help them, we can’t fight the world without God. But even with God, it is going to be hard to do right. The world is still going to tempt us and tease us, ect. But we have a Friend and a Savior who loves us and cares for us and will ALWAYS protect us.
"Walk with Christ" is just a term talking about your relationship with God. When we walk with Christ, we have accepted Him into our hearts as our Lord and Savior and will do our best to live the way He wants us to live. None of us are perfect, but God is. And that is something to thank Him for.

HI. this is me. I'm not really sure who me is, but maybe you can derive that from my posts. Maybe me is just a teenager who can express in a pressure-free blog what others are trying to say. maybe that's me. or maybe, me is indefinable. me is complicated. me is me.
